Sayyiduna Zaid Ibn Thabit رضى الله تعالى عنه
narrates: We had Suhoor with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and then proceeded to perform Salaah.
Someone asked him:
What was the time-span between the two? (Suhoor & Fajr)
He replied: The time it takes to recite fifty verses
(Bukhari/Muslim)
The time between Suhoor and Fajr is approximately 15 minutes, hence the Suhoor should be delayed to shortly before true dawn.
